'Bringing Hope to Village Children'

Current programs

Orphans: The on-going services to orphans include: nutrition care, education and moral support. Most orphans are HIV/AIDS orphans. On nutrition care, the orphans have been given pigs and rabbits to raise. They are organized in a group of 3-7 children responsible to raise the animal. They share the young animals and give also to new created groups. The animals provide meat, manure for agricultural activities and others are sold for an income to get schools fees or to meet other basic human needs. Working in groups fosters unity and friendship among them. On health care, the organization meets the medical bills when orphans fall sick.

On education, children are given scholastic materials (exercise books, pens, school uniforms) and are encouraged to go to school to benefit from the government universal primary education (UPE) program. The organization intends to provide scholarships for vocational training to acquire technical skills. Moral support and spiritual care is also provided to orphans with the help of the volunteers who visit and meet with orphans in collaboration with their families. Some of the children are traumatized after seeing their parents suffer and die from HIV and AIDS, other suffer from abuse and violation of their rights.

Disabled children: Children with disabilities have so far been helped to get medical treatment. Plans are under way to see how they can get physical therapy, speech therapy, nutrition care, spiritual care and bringing them to school for education.

Kindergarten: St. John Bosco Kindergarten has been established. It is meant to help children to love to go to school for education when still young. The project also helps parents to concentrate on their domestic work like farming when the children are at school.
